Question 09 Aveo Timing Belt Change

I just changed out the timing belt on my wife's 2009 Aveo (without using the MK-6340 locking tool). I had thought I was careful enough in the replacement to keep the cams aligned. However, once I had everything back together and turned the car back on I was oh so enthralled to experience a rough running engine and codes 016/017 (Camshaft position). So now I must rip it all back apart and try and align the cams properly.

Has anyone done this job before without the proper tooling and knows the appropriate way to interpret the timing marks? Does anyone by any chance have the MK-6340 tool and would be open to "renting" it out? I would have just rented it online but I have yet to find a site that will ship to Canada.
