Question Aveo timing belt

I assumed the timing belt broke on my Aveo, turns out on inspection that the Idler Pully bolt broke off (half of it is still in the head) and caused the belts teeth to be sheered off.(belt did not break in spite of this) This is the orginal bolt and Idler pully. Has this ever happened to anybody else? It takes alot of force to snap a bolt. I can't see any reason for this bolt to have snapped. I have heard that this part should be covered under warrenty is this true? This is a 2007 Aveo with about 92000 miles on it. In advance, thanks for any info.

If you have the extended warranty 5 year 100,000 mile, you are borderline depending on the month you bought it. You have to ask.

jc323,

We'd be happy to check into the warranty parameters on your Aveo; would you be able to please get us the last 8 digits of your VIN?

Best,

Sure, the VIN number is 7B787167 the last eight digits, total VIN number is KL1TD66647B787167. Is a bolt covered for 100000 miles? I don't see anything wrong with the Idler Pully, other than it got chewed up when it broke free (bearing still turns). I have to wonder what kind of damage this did from the bolt breaking. Thanks, John C
