Default Cup Holders

This is a question for anyone.

My girlfriend bought a 2007 aveo recently and i gotta say the cup holders in the thing suck.

Basically, you bring them out and put your cup in it, and the cup will lean to the left or the right, depending on which cup holder your using.

Was wondering if it's suppose to do that or if her cup holder is broken.

Thanks for any input.

No, they just seem to be that way, flimsy is the word. On the test drive I thought the cup holder was a decent size, not the largest I've seen but good enough. Until after I bought the car and tried to Use it for the first time.[]

I am going to pull mine out and inspect it to see if it can be beefed up at all. Maybe epoxy some 1/8" aluminum sheet trimmed to fit the Underside of the sliding part. I wouldn't know if that will work until I yank it out and look.

I have a aftermarket stereo to install. Using the dash kit for it gives you a DIN sized pocket. Then you can just install a different cup holder from a Saab or the like that uses the DIN size holders. Just another thought I have had in the 5 days I have had the car.

HTH,

Ron

Edit: I forgot to mention I have an auto trans, so worst case I can use my free hand to hold the damn cup
