Does a 2004 aveo need its catalytic converter?

Does a 2004 aveo need its catalytic converter?

or can I get a straight pipe put on it instead. They dont do emission test where I live and my catalytic converter needs to be replaced.

yes it does need the catylatic converter, only cars made before 1996 can have their cats removed without reprograming, that being said im sure there arent too many people tunning aveo's
