Default Front strut saddles

Goodevening guys .
I am from South Africa and i own a 2009 chev aveo 1.6
i have an iaaue with my front strut saddles.
I have renewed the front struts and have used oth aftermarket and original sadlles on oth the original and aftermarket shocks but there is a finger gap between the body and the retainer plate in the engine bay. Any ideas as to why this is so? My concern is that if you Jack up the car then the shock hangs and you can actually lift the shock up because the upper locking plate has not mated with the upper shock tower area.
Its my forst time posting so i am gonna try and attach a pic of the gap
Anyone with this issue? Please assist
PS this has had the gap before i even renewed the struts and i own the car from new and it has a full agents service and repair history
