Can't find anything online that doesn't require a subscription, and it doesn't just screw off. Help please?

First thing you're going to do is get a big ol wrench and make sure you can fit it around your factory ****. Next, throw a thick cloth with some grip on it over the ****. Get a grip on the **** with the wrench, have a friend hold the base of the shifter, and start working the **** back and forth. Eventually it will give a little bit, then it will give a little bit more, then finally you'll be able to spin it around with some ease. It still isn't going anywhere though. Now, you just gotta pull as you slightly twist up on the ****. It's gonna be hard, and you might even pull the boot off too. Don't be afraid, it clips right back on. Once it's off, find a good place for your equipment because it could be greasy and you don't want that on your seats.

The basic thing to know is that this **** is held on with adhesive, so if you can work with some heat and some muscle, you should be good. Take your time, be patient, and reap the benefits of customizing your Sonic.
