Exclamation Sonic 2014 air conditioning problem

My son has a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic sedan that the air conditioning constantly stops cooling, about once a month it blows air but not cool, he then takes it to a friend that has a Snap-on scanner (but not much knowledge) and he says he clears the codes and the a/c starts cooling again. I will find out which codes it shows when the a/c stops cooling again, but based on this information does anyone know what's happening? Thanks for you help.

the thermostat dtc are causing the pcm to enter an overheat protection strategy. it will shut down the ac to reduce heat load on the cooling system.
