Default Error Codes PO324 and PO597

Hi all,

The check engine light came in my 2013 Spark yesterday and gears 1-3 are very sluggish. When scanned the codes PO324 and PO597 came up. Has anyone else ever received these codes and if so, what was the solution? Any help is appreciated!! If it helps my current mileage is 63,000. I bought the car last month and I’m very new to Chevy!

When I started the car this morning the engine light was off and it drove better. I took it to the mechanic anyway and he told me to bring it back if the light came back on. His computers wouldn’t find anything if the light wasn’t on and he didn’t want to charge me for a diagnostic that wouldn’t turn anything up 🙄

so now I wait for the light again, ugh.

Make sure there aren't any outstanding recalls for your vehicle.

Default Problem Solved

Hey all,

In all of 3 minutes my mechanic boyfriend found the root of the temp and engine knock problems. The oil filter was leaking and I was down 2 quarts of oil. He did a complete oil change, put in a new filter and now my car is running like new. Better than the day I picked it up, which makes me wonder how long that damaged filter was in there!

wow OK. Good boyfriend. The error about thermostat heaters sure didn't give the problem away.

I'm sure that now you see how it's a good idea to check the dipstick every time you gas up. Glad you got it fixed.
