01 tahoe 5.3 liter voltage fluctuations/lights dimming etc
Hi all, Im new and frankly do not know much about automobiles. having said that, here goes:
Backstory: Recently the steering pump failed and I had it towed to a local shop where the pump was replaced along with two pulleys. The tension and Idle pulleys I believe.
Issue: A few days after I picked the vehicle up from the shop, I got in my vehicle to go to work and started the engine but it wouldn't idle. I would start but immediately stall. After a few attempts it finally started and ran. While driving to work, the vehicle began experiencing voltage drops while it was running. The symptoms were seeing the voltage gauge drop and the lights dimming. This would happen while driving and while stopped at red lights. The voltage would drop, the lights would dim, but the vehicle would not stall out. The stalling issue has not reemerged but the voltage drops still continue. I brought the vehicle back to the shop that replaced the pump, but they could not find any issues. So I took the vehicle to an auto parts place and had the battery/ alternator tested. The test showed that the alternator was operating but that the battery was slightly low, but still within acceptable limits.
Any ideas out there?
Thanks - J
PS The battery cables are secure

If the battery was disconnected, the ECM has to do a re-learn of your driving habits, which fine-tunes the ECM so it will run smoother. I don't know if this might be part of the issue, but thought I would bring it up.
