05 Tahoe, Ceramic or Semi Metallic
Does anyone know did the 2005 4 wheel drive 4.8 Tahoe come from the factory with ceramic brake pads or semi metallicbrake pads?
When I read about ceramic pads vs semi metallic pads, I was warned if the rotors are not rated for ceramic pads the new ceramic pads will eat up the rotors.
I drive in the city and I have 120,000 miles on my Tahoe. I need to replace the factory pads on the rear of the car since they are low.
I am interested in getting the same miles out of the pads as the factory pads.
I kept checking my pads every 20,000 miles and was happily surprised to see my 1st brake replacement comes at 120,000.

Welcome to the forum...
I believe the factory pads are semi-metallic.
I have never heard of any issues with using ceramic pads with standard rotors and had very good success with ceramic pads on my 97 Tahoe with generic steel rotors...

I have always used Semi matallic and have great performance and NO dust. You always get what you pay for and no issues with Wagner. By theway they have started shrink wrapping the padds to insure no contamination of someone returning them to the store.
