07 Chevy Tahoe Trans Temp high
I have a 2007 Chevy Tahoe LTZ 2x4. I bough it in Florida and kept it down there for years then as of this year brought it back home to PA to use as a daily driver. I noticed that even in the cold winter, (today was 24 degrees) the trans temp still shoots up to 165-195 degrees within 10 mins of driving. my drive to work is 20 Mins and when pulling into work today, it was sitting at 185 degrees.
When I brought it back from Florida, the trans sat at around 200-210 degrees the whole trip at 75-80MPH with just me in it. Any help would be nice, trying to figure out what would cause this or if its normal.
Thanks!

If no factory tow package trans. the only way, it's cooled is by the cooler that's built into the radiator. Coolant will heat the trans. fluid up to its temperature.
Hopefully you have been doing regular fluid changes.
My '11 with tow package has additional cooling so it takes a while to get trans up to 150F in cold weather.

The Tahoe doesn't have the tow package. It has the hitch receiver, and the 7 way but was under a cover that I had to remove. It tows fine, has the same trans temps even with a boat or camper on the back, but I don't tow with it enough to keep track considering I have a 3500 to tow with. I might consider putting a trans cooler on it before the summer.
