Default '07 Nav/DVD player doesn't eject DVD disc enough to grab with fingers

I did a search here/Google but didn't find anything. In our new-to-us/used '07 burb, we have found out that the DVD player doesn't eject the DVD out enough to grab with our fingers. The disc went in fine, plays fine, but when trying to eject it, it's about 1/8" before the lip where I can grab it so it's stuck. It'll go back in just fine, just won't come out enough.

How do I fix this? Is there a new disc mechanism I can install or are there some common parts that break on these units? I don't want to swap the whole nav unit, and would rather take it apart and fix whatever piece is broken or not grabbing.

Did the DVD ever eject while you owned the truck? You might try grabbing the DVD with needle nose pliers.

I own the truck, I just got it. Previous owner said it "worked", now I'm not so sure. I can't grab with needle nose pliers which I already did, but how do I fix it so it kicks the disc out all the way so I can grab w/fingers?

Default fix

I'm not sure if it can be.
maybe removing the stuck one means it will work again, but that's wishful thinking
You can most likely get a used head-unit online like eBay or so. New they are not cheap.

You could try the old, remove the battery wire from the truck, wait an hour, and reconnect it.
sometimes that 'resets' things.

Also, the head unit never really 'shuts off'... I believe to reset them without removing power from the car is to hold the power button for 10 or 15 seconds.

you could try that.
