I have the remote start reday setup on my truck and would like to add the remote start, has anyone done the upgrade themselves is it doable or will I need to have it installed. Thanks,

 

There are numerous posts about this already, but the answer is "yes" it can be done. You can't just buy a key fob off ebay, "like I did",and have it programmed. You have to buy the key fobs from the dealership and have them programmed through the Tech 2 machine. The reason you have to buy them from the dealership is because when they send the key fobs they also send the 3 digit code specific for your vehicle and the only way to get the code is through the dealership.They in turn progam the 3 digit code into the Tech 2 and unlock the AP8 capability inside your computer.
