Default '07 Suburban LTZ radio display out

The head unit display on my 2007 Suburban LTZ stopped working this evening. The radio is working fine as I can change the stations and hear sound, I just can't see what station I'm on or the time or anything like that. Anyone got any ideas as to what might be going on here? Thanks in advance. (It's a radio, XM, CD, DVD unit. No NAV)

Ok, a quick update...after my son's football practice tonight, the display magically works again. The truck sat for about 2 hours. The only difference in the ride home and the ride to practice is that the headlights were on. WTF?! Oh well, guess we'll see if the issue exists tomorrow during the day again.

If the display is off during daylite, turn on the headlites and see what happens.
