Default Right passenger side noise.

What started as a slight "whirring" noise that I would notice when passing cement walls on the highway became a "thunk thunk" and tripped my Service Stability and ABS lights. It does not change with braking. On the way home when it started it went away and then came back on 5 miles down the road. It is able to be felt in the cab, but it now cannot be heard outside the vehicle when driving by a person standing on the street trying to pinpoint the front from the back. It does however seem like the front. 2005 Tahoe 210K in miles.

Any top of mind thoughts? Bearings?

You have a bad wheel bearing, most likely in the front. Likely on the side that was next to the cement wall when you could hear it. Jack it up and check for play on both sides. Have the ABS computer scanned for codes. It will tell you which one most likely

Thanks for the input. I have great--and reasonable--private ownership mechanic that it went in last night. He though the same as you. Will post the actual. I was not able to pull any codes. I have a reader that works great and has never failed me in the past, but maybe it did not pull as the DIC showed the message?

Thanks again!

" code readers" only scan the PCM/ECM. You would need a full tilt scan tool to access any of the other computers.

Glad to hear you got it figured out.
