07 Suburban a Qt low 3000mi after oil change
#3
It was filled properly I did the oil changes. I've noticed it the last couple oil changes. before I get to the 3000mi mark my oil low light comes on. seems like it is slowing getting worse.

When you fill, do you let it settle before checking?
How many qts are you putting in? Changing filter?
It's not unheard of that the dipstick itself is not accurate.

+1 on what everyone else is saying here, but have you considered an oil catch can? I'm going to buy one pretty soon here. I know of a guy with an '07 Tahoe that saw a teaspoon worth of oil in the catch can after only about 100-125 miles. He had the flex-fuel, AFM 5.3L engine too. I know that the LS based engines have this problem (mainly the LS1, LS6, etc.), but I'm not too sure about the 5.3L engine (especially the newer ones).

What ring are you talking about? He attached it inline with the pcv hose off of the valve cover. He didn't notice any leaks around the engine or any burning, but when he put this on he did start to catch quite a bit of oil in it.

The piston rings. The only way you'll get oil thru the PCV line is if you have a lot of blow-by or no windage tray and the crank is whipping the oil into the air.
