07 Tahoe Liftgate Defrost Wire Fell Off
#12
I just fixed this today on my '07 Suburban. The TSB is right on. The part was less than $3, then $4 for Silver solder. I used one of those high temp solder guns. Rat Shack has them for $30 which is a ripoff as they can be had of less than half that elsewhere.
I made two loops of solder around the connector base, melted that with the gun while using needlenose pliers to hold. Then put the connector in position and applied heat. Whole soldering process was <10sec. Everything as a whole was <5 mins.
Thanks for the TSB!

Its probably more personal preference, but removing it invites more potential problems then doing it in place...i.e. alignment issues, dropping it
Spread out some towels or an old blanket to protect from solder drip / spatter..
Use a pair of pliers to hold the connector and consider having a helper....

The defroster tab fell off on my 2011 Suburban yesterday. It looks like there is part of the tab on the window and the cord. I am planning on trying the pyrmex epoxy today to reattach. Is it recommended to replace the tab?? Has any one had any luck with the epoxy?

The epoxy is conductive. Permatex sells a rear window defroster repair kit. I tried it today. I will post if it works or not tomorrow. You are supposed to wait 24hrs to turn on the defroster
