Default 07 truck broken into/ alarm upgrades?

Well guys, my 07 was broken into a few days ago. The driver's side rear window was smashed. Must have been kids as they really didn't take anything of value (emptied my console and glove box). It looks as if they climbed in and out thru the window as the alarm did not go off (yes I'm certain I set it properly). Does anyone know of any upgrades to the factory alarm that would detect movement in vehicle or glass breakage? I don't want to replace the factory alarm, just improve it. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your truck, you can upgrade the truck's OEM "alarm" system to have an incline sensor (GM part # 17800432) that won't help in what happened to you, it will only help with someone towing your vehicle. In your case, your best bet is to upgrade the alarm to include a shock sensor , for a mid-range system do a google search for "VSC 3200" for a higher end GM system do a search for "VSL 4000" This is an original GM upgrade that includes a shoch sensor, a 6 tone siren and a bright LED indicator. You should be able to get the mid range system for about a $100 and the higher end system for about $200.

I went with an aftermarket Alarm system (Viper 5900SST) which gives you a 2-way system, I've added a battery backup system to that, an incline sensor, a two stage microwase sensor in addition to the dual stage shock sensor that comes with the system. I am looking at adding a glass break sensor in the very near future that detects broken blood through a microphone. The system also gives you a remote start feature and about 1.5 mile range.

Best of luck, let me know if you need more information.

Surely there are a bunch of stores that sell alarms, auto audio systems, etc where you live. Visit some of them and find out what's available in features and price. There are a lot of alarm systems, and it would be helpful for you to know what they do and how they work.
