Default 08 burb a/c temp

My 08 burb a/c won't turn on.When I press the ac button, it flashed 3 times then goes off, it never come on. I have the auto temp control unit. What does the outside/inside temp have to be to turn on? I saw something about the ambient temp senor going bad, how do you test that? Is there any other typical problems? I just bought it this winter so I couldn't test it to see if it worked.
any help/ideas are appreciated
thanks

One possible cause could be low freon.

Default Update

System had .7 oz of freon in it. Small leak in rear lines right under the bracket. At least it's not in the wheel well and can be fixed without replacing the whole lines front to back.
Can someone recommend a good splice kit?

I see 2 ambient temperature sensor behind the grill. One is for the temp on the rearview mirror, what's the second one for?

Thanks
