I picked up at 09 Tahoe at auction which motor runs strong. Put it into drive and get nothing, no sound like it tries to shift. Just revs like it’s in neutral but it does have reverse. Transmission fluid is full, although it appeared it may have a slow leak. Still after sitting in my yard for a week the fluid is still full which leads me to wonder what could be the deal. It gave a P0700 code with no other codes at that point. Check engine light is on but no idea what to mess with first. Any ideas?

If you don't have a scanner, then most auto parts stores will scan for free.

Just curious, did it fail at the auction or after you drove it home?

 

The auction did not have the key so we had to have it keyed before we left. It started right up but once in drive it did nothing. It had been scanned and gave a code of P0700 but that’s the only code it gave out.

 

2whl or 4x4?
Do you have any low gears? D1-D2

Common problem with 4L60E trans:
"No forward movement in OD or D, but L2, L1 and R work: Forward sprag is broken."

 

It’s 2w no 4x4. It doesn’t have any forward gears. It’s like it’s in neutral and you press the gas to where it just revs up. It still goes in reverse and that’s all. Gives us one code with a OBD reader.

 

do you have a 6 speed or 4 speed?
p0700 is a transmission general fault code. the trans is fubared. have a replacement trans installed. if any signs of metal is seen in the fluid...replace the trans cooler/rad and cooler lines or it will f the replacement trans.

hope you got this cheap. auction purchases are a risk...these vehicles come from dealers who know what is wrong and determine its not worth the time $ to fix.
