LOL @ Train

Yep the way the weather changes down here, its worth the wait for a few days til we get comfortable weather.

The only advantage to working in the cold is my beer stays colder longer....

LOL I hear ya, I need to replace the oil pressure sending unit on my truck. My gauge is pegged at max with the ignition on but motor not running. It drops back to 0 when the ignition is off or when cranking the motor up.

I pulled the sending unit out (it appeared to be leaking a little oil from the electrical plug that connects to it. Turned ignition switch on and gauge showed 0. This made me think it was the sending unit being bad (probably shorted out). Cleaned the plug and the sending unit of all oil. Put it back in and it gave the same reading of being max'd out.

Wow I think I'll start a thread on the sending unit in case someone else has this issue......

You could check the sending unit with an ohm meter. But you are probably right, its probably shot.

Do you have a test for it? I don't know what the ohms reading should be for one.

Don't know what it should read at ambient pressure but if it's bad, I suspect it will read open or shorted.

Just a follow up with this, I finally used up that tank of gas and filled up, checked my mileage DIC 17.6 mpg and 16.8 mpg hand calculated HOWEVER, I noticed that the DIC showed 18.1 gallons used but the gas pump cut off at 19.1 gallons... for 321 miles total trip... if you use the 18.1 which the DIC says was used the mpg comes out correctly/ the same when hand calculated... I wonder if when the algorithm was setup for the calculations if it took into account the gallon of gas that's in the filler neck prior to gas pump cut off...

If I were to look and see what the DIC says the amount of fuel used is and then put only that amount in at fill up, the MPG should always come out the same to the DIC and hand calculated...

Probably explains why my DIC reading is always about 0.5 mpg on the hi side.

I suspect if you keep putting in just the amount that it says it used, you'll eventually run out of gas.

We are about to hit the road for a trip to Arkansas, I will see if I can follow that idea of putting in only what the DIC says was used and will report back...
