Default 1981 suburban starting trouble/

Suburban won't start in Park but starts in Neutral, any suggestions for this
happening? thanks for your insight...

Welcome to the forum.

I think there's a neutral safety switch that might need to be adjusted. Don't know where it is tho. Somewhere connected to the shifter and linkage.

I dont think it is the adjustment in the trans case, but it could be. I think the linkage in the steering column may be *****. The ignition switch only passes power through to the starter in P and N but if the gear selector is off a bit OR the switch is pretty odd, it is easy for the contacts to be off. Give the steering column selector a few jiggles as you try to start it in Park.

Thanks for the info..jiggles seemed to work..must be old and detent switch a little rusty works now woo hoo
