Default 1992 Suburban Rear Hatch Bypass

My 92 Suburban 1500 has the rear hatch/tailgate set up. The hatch is broken and the tailgate has all but fallen off due to rust. However, it starts up and is still runs strong for me. My problem is that the sensor for the rear hatch often thinks the hatch is open which leaves my interior lights on unless I fully turn them off. Is there a way I can bypass or loop the wiring for the hatch so that I can leave my interior lights on auto and they will work properly when the doors are open or shut?

You should be able to just unplug the wires going to the door jamb switch.
