Went out this morning to start my 1993 suburban turned the key all I got was a brief turn of the starter and all the dash light went out No power at all. Seemed it was a dead battery even thou the battery is only 3 months old got out the DMM 12.46 volts at the battery. there's power to the distribution panel on the firewall. But I have no power to the dash radio headlights etc. I have a VHF mobile that gets its power from the distribution panel under the hood and if grounded to the firewall the positive fuse on it is blown. The only thing work is the fog lights I installed years ago! There nice a bright they're not led they pull about 5 amps per light. Wired directly to the battery via a relay to a switch in the dash

 

Alternator?

 

I guess the alternator could be shorted something killed the power when i tried to start it. will have to find and check the fusible links if this has them. Try to check this afternoon currently in the middle of a February heat wave high's in the teens today.
