Last week my 1996 K2500 Suburban with 7.4L emitted a very loud hissing sound under the hood, and by the time I got off of the freeway and parked, the pulley on the smog pump had completely come off leaving a bunch of shredded wires. The truck had to be towed. I was only able to get a replacement pump with pulley at a wrecking yard, but now I need to solve the mystery of what caused this to try to prevent it from happening again with the replacement pump. They are very hard to find. If anyone has experience with this, please share your information.
