Default 1996 Tahoe Brake problem

Just dropped a crate motor in (Vortec 5700) took it for a test to blow out the tailpipe, only to find that the RR wheel cylinder was leaking. Changed it out and tried to bleed the line... No/very little pressure. Brakes I know, but I'm not familiar with ABS at all. Found a thread on here about depressing the metering pin on the proportional valve/combination valve.. so I tried that (at least I think that's what we were depressing). Still no/little pressure. The ABS dash light illuminates on start-up but goes out within seconds, but the brake! light stays on. I've got no brakes at all on the back end. I'm stumped. Can anyone help an old dinosaur out here Thanks in advance for your help.... It's beer thirty for this old man
