Default 1996 tahoe won,t start

Hi to all, newbi.I have 1996 tahoe had it about a year Would run fine if you drove it every day. After sitting 2or3 days fuel pump would run alot and hard to start.Missing and back firing.Put new GM fuel pump in and run good for a little while.Started popping and cracking.Come to find out it had never had a fuel filter replaced.Replaced and cut old one apart full of dirt and rust.Run good for 1/2 tank of fuel.On my 20 mile drive to work it sputtered about 10 sec.and cleared up same thing 1/2 way back home.No check engine light.I started it 2 days later let it run in drive 20min.it died and like to have never got it to start.Took to a buddy's shop and shut it off and would not start. The service engine soon light came on.Next 3 days he started it and run fine. The next day it would not hit a lick.Code was random miss fire.He checked fuel pressure,Fine ,Very little fire out of plug wires.Any help would be great!!!!!Thanks in advance. Also the wires and cap have been replaced.Snap on scanner only had the 1 code.

Default RE: 1996 tahoe won,t start

hi friend, i just write to tell you that i have same situation with my 96 tahoe.

i am very happy anyway, i bought it 8 months ago from a guy in london that was really keeping the tahoe with care. he told me that i could have problems when winter come to start it, he was told was common problem with tahoe in damp humid clima, can you immagine here in uk rain 365 days a year!

come november, tahoe sit 1 week, no more start, only attempt but nothing, just crank, mechanic come but not american cars specialist, says no idea, ok, then i will live with that, still very happy

see online that many people has some problem, but garage not want to change any pump or filter becasue are new and:

he suggest to use ww40 and do not live the car long standing so after work i go for a little ride every day in winter, and WW40 in engine bay, i never had problem again i hope i am lucky to ride for long time in this car!

all the best to you

antonio from york uk
