1997 suburban fuse puzzle
Hello, maybe someone can explain this to me. Thanks in advance. Ted
I was cleaning under the hood and I noticed that I have NO 30 amp fuse
in the STOP / HAZARD fuse position, see image below, and yet my STOP and HAZARDS work. Never had a problem.
I am the original owner and neither my mechanic, nor myself, have ever changed a fuse. Moreover, recently when I tried to place a 30 amp max fuse into the STOP / HAZARD position, thinking it was left out at the factory, I noticed that the fuse holder does NOT have the clips in that position to even hold a fuse. It simply won't accept a fuse in that spot.
So, it seems to me that GM used a generic fuse box for these vehicles and only populated my box with fuses particular to my SUBURBAN. But, since my STOP / HAZARDS work, where is the fuse for my STOP / HAZARDS?
THANKS AGAIN (see diagram)
In the diagram for the fuse box under the hood, in the lower right corner (one up from the bottom) there is a 30 amp max fuse for STOP / HAZARD.

That's not uncommon to have empty fuse locations with no clips. Have you checked your owner's manual to see what it specifies for your STOP/ HAZARD fuse value and location?
