Default 1997 Tahoe fuel pump

It all started with a rear end swap in my Tahoe , I had to replace the rear end and when I changed it out , I was getting ready to bleed the brakes , and the main line going to the rear of the vehicle blew , well, I had to replace the entire line (about 10 ft.) on the Tahoe , trouble is , it ran between the frame and the gas tank . I could have just left the old line inside of the space and just ran a new line , but , I kinda like things to be close to right , soooo..... I dropped the tank , just as luck would have it , my wife had just filled the tank...no problem , I have a good jack , while I was letting the tank down , the weight shifted , and the tank slid off of the jack..and snapped the plastic hose couplings right off of the pump..well, I was gonna fix the pump with gas tank repair kit , but opted not to , this is the vehicle that my wife and kids ride , so , I go to the auto parts store , buy the $200.00 fuel pump assembly , I put this assembly into the tank , replace the electric plug that comes with the assembly , color coded the wires, and re-assembled the vehicle , tried to start the Tahoe , turned the key on...I can hear the pump running , and after many , many cycles of the ignition , still no fuel pressure , sooo... I drop the tank again , and for General purpose , I put the old pump back in , and it doesnt pump fuel either now... , I guess it should be said , however I think it would not matter , I replaced the quick connect couplings that slid on the fuel pump due to the rusty issues and the fact that they are a pain in the *** to deal with , so , I replaced them with regualr fuel line , with a set of fuel injection hose clamps , I have also , just to troubleshoot this thing , replaced the fuel pump relay , I have been under this vehicle for a total of 3 days trying to figure this out , their is a total of a 4 wire plug in , 2 hoses on the pump itself , and a hose near the front of the tank (1 hose is the pressure side , I assume the other 2 are for return lines) a pretty simple set up , anybody know something I havent tried? , this vehicle was running perfect when I pulled it into the garage to replace the rearend... any help is greatly appreciated....BTW , I can pour fuel in the throttle body and it will run , I was wondering if I had messed up and screwed up something in the engine compartment , but , the only issue is no fuel pressure...

The first thing i think of is that you shifted polarity +/- to the pump in the new connector.

Well, I could see that , but , when I changed the plug , I matched the colors (purple/ purple , black w/white stripe -black w/ white stripe , grey/ grey..the only one that didnt match was one had a black wire , the other had a white wire) , the other 3 wires matched perfectly , I had to assume that the 4th wire was the match also , what do you think?

I have had the same problem on my 97 tahoe. Found that I pinched the electric cable when putting the tank back in. This caused an intermitten make\break in the power that runs the pump. It would stall out on me was I was driving down the road. Fixed problem by lowering tank and repairing the wiring feeding the pump.
