1999 1500 4wd ABS problem?
Some months ago, I began having a momentary power loss on gentle acceleration, but very rarely, and randomly. At 140K I gave it a tune-up, but it didn't solve the problem. Now, I am experiencing strange anti-skid issues. It only happens at extremely low speeds during gentle braking, and particularly when turning a corner during that time. Dry roads, so there is no skid. It does not happen during heavy braking at highway speeds. I am beginning to think that the two things bould be related. Is it possible that the '99 uses reduced power as part of the ABS system, and that they are related?
Don't know about your loss of power issues, but it sounds like you need to replace the wheel speed sensors. I hope that's the right term; someone will correct me if not. Bought them online for abot $17 each and replaced them myself. Basically just a wire that plugs in at both ends. No more slow speed ABS activation.
