Dude, this is most likely a problem seen in many of the 1999-2002 chevy full size trucks. There was actually a recall for this issue on many models. Unfortunately for us 1999 Suburban owners the recall doesn't apply, even though many of our vehicles suffer this problem. The problem is due to the front wheel speed sensor getting corroded. I paid out of my pocket 2 years ago to have my sensors cleaned and it solved the problem until just recently. They began to act up again. I will do the cleaning procedure myself this time. Do a search on #05068C Product Safety- Front Wheel Speed Sensor Corrosion. You will find the GM service fix. I don't know why our year was not included in the recall because this certainly is a problem. I have has so many problems with the brakes on my 99 Suburban; from this issue to rusted brake lines to warped rotors. Chevy should be ashamed of themselves for their crappy brake systems!!!

See the GM service bulletin i referred to above for complete procedure for cleaning. Basically you have to plug the sensor hole in the hub and wire brush the sensor mating surface then blow with compressed air.
