)2 Tahoo Dies unexpectedly.....NEED HELP/ADVICE!
Hey all.....need some serious advice/help.
I have an 02 Tahoe that I just drove over the holiday. This is the first time this has happened, but I was driving about 80 mph and went to pass another vehicle, the vehicle hesitated, then died! I pulled over to the side of the road to see what I could see. I had all good volts, pressure, temps, etc. Upon trying to restart, it sounded like I wasn't getting fuel. So I looked more and found nothing....after about 2-3 minutes, I tried it again...it fired right up. I filled up with fuel and continued home. Throughout the rest of the trip, it did this about 5 more time, ranging from 1.5 hours to 3 hours between them. Every time, it would just 'die' whether I was in cruise mode or manual acceleration. Each and every time, after sitting for 2-5 minutes, it starts right up and I was able to continue. My initial thoughts were injector nozzles or fuel pump, but I can't figure out what's 'resetting' and allowing me to start back up with virtually no signs of trouvble when it happens again.
Any thoughts?

Fuel pump,
Its working intermittently, could be fuel filter butmy exp has been that its the fuel pump, you have 8 injectors its unlikely that all 8 would stop working, instead you would get a rough idle.
Its getting hot and quiting then cools down and works for a while

If I recall the 02 fuel pump may have an upgrade kit that comes with it, you have to replace the electrical connection and put in a upgraded fuse.
Your auto parts supplier should know.
If you have a helper its about a 2 hr or less job, you will need the specialty tool to remove the fuel lines from thier connections, get that before you start the job....

FYI the 02 suburban that I replaced the fuel pump on had and anti-siphon device installed so you will need to remove the filler tube/hose from the tank to empty out the gas tank.
It doesn’t need to be empty but close, not more then about 2-3 gallons otherwise you’ll be covered in gas and stinkin up the place.
You may need to remove the evap hoses on the canister to get enough slack to drop the tank.
