Default 2000 suburban alarm problem

I have a 2000 suburban that we bought new. It came with the alarm and fob. For the last year or so we have had trouble with the alarm and it is now to the point where my wife is completely sick of the alarm beeping everytime she unlocks the doors. We have an estimate of $1300 to fix it. Its her car, but I'm saying I bet we can disable the alarm rather than pay that much to fix. Does anyone know if there is a simple way to disconnect the alarm? We can disconnect the horn, but then we have no horn. There has got to be a simple way to do this, doesn't there? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Drew

can you trace the horn wire? usually these things are installed right near the driver's legs... unless its factory then I have no idea where it would be...

I had one go screwy on me, I ripped out the flasher light relay and it worked fine ever since lol! $20 keyless entry on ebay!

Drew1, if you can verify if it is a factory alarm system or an after market one that may give the forum a better idea of where to start looking to disable it..
