If the body is nice and you won`t mind driving it for a while, fix it. A good engine will go for about $600 and $500 install including oil and filter.

The body is in good shape. Still looks great.

Here in NYC your estimate doubles. Almost exactly. Looking at 1100 for an engine and about 1200 for install.

I may be crazy but I'm leaning toward doing it.
