2001 8.1 2WD 3/4ton Suburban with 4A
Hello everyone!
My parent's good 'ol girl gave up the ghost finally and her transmission just went. No noise, no warning, just complete loss of forward motion. They live in Riverside, CA while I live in Fort Worth, TX.
Here is my problem. I don't know of any REALLY GOOD transmission shops in their area. (Riverside, Corona, Pomona)
I want them to take it to a shop that has been around in the same location under the same ownership for decades. This is my rule of thumb that I use when looking for a shop. Same ownership, same location, long history.
I did have my dad go to KarTek Offroad for a referral because my thought process was that a shop that builds bulletproof transmissions for a high horsepower toy will build a bulletproof transmission for their 8.1L beast. The downside, the referred to shop is WAY UP in Oxnard so transporting their Suburban to that shop becomes the challenge.
Herein lies my question to fellow Forum readers.
DOES ANYONE KNOW of a damn good transmission shop in the Inland Empire/San Gabriel Valley that has been under the same ownership, same location since like the 50's? I knew of one I think in Whittier that had been in the same location owned by the same family since 1963 and had a stellar reputation.
Please gents, looking for some recommendations for my parents and thank you in advance.
