Default 2001 suburban rpm

My suburban just started raising after I got off the expressway it was Erving at about 2600 rpm,I had to keep throwing it in neutral so I didn't hit the guy in front of me
Does anyone know what my suburban should be idling at and how do I adjust it down.thanks again jimbo

That's a wide open question (pun intended)
My first response is a dirty throttle body
2nd is tps, however it should have thrown a code if the tps is bad.

good deal, throttle body cleaning....you can do yourself. whne youget to 1.8 of a tank try using techron to clean injectors.
