Cool 2001 Suburban Vibration Between 100 and 120 km

Hi all,

I have read through many of the posts and have not managed to find a solution to my problem.
Background
has 4 wheel drive
275k on vehicle
have had new tires installed, balanced and had tires aligned
have pulled off rear drive shaft and driven down the road in fwd in order to see if it was a bent drive shaft. Vibration still there
Vibration will stay there if I put my truck in neutral until it goes under 100 km per hour at which point it will quiet down.
I am at a loss as to find out what this vibration is.

Looking for some advice here

where do you feel the vibration; through the steering wheel or seat/body of the truck? Did the vibration start after any repairs. Did it come
on suddenly one day or gradually and get worse? What brand of tires were installed...hopefully nothing branded motomaster or from walmart.

johnvip: welcome to the forum.

Maybe one of the new tires is out of round. Try to find a shop that can do a road force balance.

yeah sounds like a tire issue. might just need balancing. how old are the tires?

New here and mine does the same except my issue is the drive shaft which needs to be replaced. Have you checked yours?

Hello All,

I have the vibration coming from the driver side floorboard.
It can also be felt at 70kph
I have put Michelin LTX on about 35k ago (not uniwobble or Motomaster/Walmart)
The vibration cannot be felt through the wheel.
I have replaced the ujoints in the front driveshaft but not isolated the front to see if the shaft is out of balance.

Any other thoughts?

Check the u-joints, maybe they are worn, also inspect the propeler shaft tube for any damage, maybe it needs to be balanced.

It seams all the u joints are good on the propeller shafts. The front shaft going into the transfer case has significant play going into the transfer case. Is there a bearing there that needs to be replaced?

That is a problem in itself but, if the 2001 are like the later models; the front propeller shaft doesn't turn in 2wd. Does the vibration occur in both 2wd and 4wd?

The vibration is there in both 4wd and 2wd but there is a bit of whining/howling when I hit certain speeds with the 4wd on.
