Default 2002 Chevy Suburban Questions.

Hey everyone,
I am new to this forum, so forgive me if I entered in the wrong category. I am looking at buying a 2002 Chevy Suburban. Here is the details, its SLT model, so highest end with all the amendities. Guy did a bit of work, he put large rims on it and tires, 22 to be exact. Road tires, I am taking this off as soon as I get it, but they are pricey wheels.
He has a K and N air filter, and Flowmaster exhaust, blue tooth, heated seats. All leather. 22inch lcd tv. It is clean.
Clean title, one owner.

194k miles on it though.
Asking $3700, is that fair? What are other people seeing in there suburbans for MPG, i dont need a prius type, but over 12MPG is ideal.

Thanks

If it as clean as you say it is, then it is a good buy. See if you can get any maintenance records.

Ya it seems clean. The guy has had the oil changed with synthetic every 3,000 miles. It's been kept super clean. Everything works. All leather is in tact. Little cracked but that's due to it's age,
Any idea on MPG?

Or anything to worry about? High miles I know, but I've heard the 5.3 go forever. 194k and going strong

Welcome to the forum.

Make sure that the transmission, transfer case, and differentials have been serviced regularly.

Greetings biker, welcome to the Forum !

Shark is SO right about ALL the Lubrications, that's one of the keys to long life for our rides.
HA, maybe 12 mpg is a little wishful, but, one can hope !
Sounds like a good deal to me.
Good luck and enjoy the many advantages of being a Chevy Suburban owner.

Thanks,
Has anyone had good luck on mileage? Anyone know what they are getting?

And any way to improve it?

There are several Users here which I remember have quoted well above the 12 mpg (I can personally conferm the 12mpg is possible).

I just did a set of Plugs, Wires and some other work, and am for the first time running a Tank of Hi-Test Fuel, to see if it will make any major difference in mileage.

If it doesn't, WOW I'm back to Regular on the next tank. That $100+ for a fillup is not easy to handle.

What are you getting city? Highway?
I am not expected great mileage, but this guy I am getting it from quotes he hits 15 in Town and usually 18-20 give or take highway.

Now I wanted to confirm this is likely or if its just a con to get me to buy it

I'd say 18 mpg is doable on the hwy at 55-60 mph. In town, drive like a seasoned citizen and anticipate stops.

I doubt premium will help but run a couple of bottles of Techron thru it might. If you do plugs, use the AC plugs recommended for it.
