That 12mpg is City. I have done combined at about 15mpg, I just don't hardly ever take long enough trips any more, to really give you a solid hiway mpg.

Yes, AC's were installed, and since the repairs, I've been using Lucas additive, is that anything like the Techron ?

OP - sounds like a good deal. I just got rid of my 01 Burb with 185K miles on it (LT - loaded); sold it to a buddy for $4k.
FYI - the SLT is the top of the line for a Yukon XL. LT with Autoride is the top of the line Suburban. LT is leather.
Have a mechanic check out the big-ticket items - A/C compressor and clutch, fuel pump (turn the ignition on but don't crank the engine - listen for a high-pitched whine - that's a fuel pump getting ready to die), front hub/bearing assemblies, exhaust manifold gaskets, brakes and rotors, and run a compression test. It'll cost a few bucks, but call it insurance.
SW - 12 MPG sounds awfully low. My '01 with the 4.10 gears and a hot tune (and driving it like I stole it) got me 14 MPG all day, city or highway.
Also, you will see zero change in your mileage switching between regular and premium.

Gotcha I thought SLT was top for both, then yes this is the LT. Not sure about auto ride? What exactly is it?
Also 14 city is perfect would hope for more on the highway.
Is there anything to improve mpg? To buy?

If it has Autoride, it will say so under the LT emblems. It's an air adjustable ride to maintain ride height when loaded.
If there was something that would improve mileage and maintain the emissions, don't you think GM would use it. Blackbear has an economy tune. Stay away from add-ons.
I know Techron works, never used Lucas.
