Tahoe & Suburban The power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.

Default 2003 Chevy Tahoe

I just bought my 2003 Chevy Tahoe 1 month ago and moved to Las Vegas. 4 days ago someone tried to steal my Tahoe and in the process destroyed my entire ignition. I found the gear box and am able to turn the ignition over but it will not stay running. It is obvious that I am not getting any fuel. Is there a fuel kill sensor or switch within the ignition that I am unaware of? And if there is, is there any way that I can by-pass it or replace it?

From the owner's manual:

Passlock is a passive theft-deterrent system. Passlock
enables fuel if the ignition lock cylinder is turned with a
valid key. If a correct key is not used or the ignition lock
cylinder is tampered with, fuel is disabled.
Dealer reprogramming is likely your only option.

Welcome to the forum, just for clarification, are you using your key to turn the ignition? if yes then the lock assembly is likely damaged and will need to be replaced and programming done...
You may be able to purchase a new ignition and key already programmed as a set...

Now I'm confused...I bought an 03 Suburban last week. Both keys had the top rubber ring cracked; they would fall off of a key ring. I had two new keys made at Lowes. They work fine. No passive system on my Burb. Was this an option in 03?

Sorry to hack the thread.

Shouldn't any issues related to the crime be covered by your insurance company / the person who committed the crime?

BTW; when I become ruler of the world, we go back to the whole cutting off of peoples hands thing... it will greatly reduce crime
