Default 2003 Suburban 1500, overhead console

There's a black button on the driver's side of the overhead console that I can't figure out what it's for. Can't find it in owner's manual. Can't Google any diagrams. I just want to know what it's for... is it part of the Homelink? (Image is just a generic one off ebay but the black thing on the side is exactly what I'm referring to.)

Are you sure its a button, does it have wiring that goes into the console housing?
Is it possible its a microphone / speaker ?
Something aftermarket previous owner added?
Sunglasses clip?

From the back side it looks like a GPS antenna or a microphone for OnStar...

I hadn't thought of that, but a microphone for the OnStar makes sense. It has a couple of slots on the black, and it slides back & forth but that appears to be just a factor of how it's attached. Thanks!

What is funny is that probably most folks like me think the air sensor above the driver is a microphone until the thing has bearing problems in the fan and then you start asking questions. I have replaced the sensor but then discovered what I now know to be the microphone. It looks like no microphone I have seen before. This forum is really good for this help
