2003 Suburban when headlights are on and right turn signal, high beams come on - help
I've owned this 2003 Suburban since '08, in the last two years, I've had two issues that I can't resolve.
- When the head lights are on (low beams) and I turn the turn signal to the right, the high beams come on with it. When I turn the left turn signal on, it functions properly (no high beams).
- The electric lock switch on the driver door panel doesn't work to lock or unlock all the doors. I have to lean over and hit the passenger unlock switch to unlock all the doors or enter with the key from the passenger side to hit the unlock button. Additional info, the speed sensor that locks the doors at 5-10 mph works fine (just wanting to give enough specific info).
1) My guess would be a problem with the turn signal stalk. That's the most likely culprit, since the turn signal and high beam wires are in very close proximity there.
2) Remove the control panel on the driver's door and clean the contacts with an emory cloth and some alcholol. If that doesn't work, replace it. Or, if that's too much work, just use the key fob, since it's hanging from the key in the ignition.

Turn signal stalk or clockspring would be my guess for the first one. intheburbs has it right for #2, thats what I would do as well. I wonder if the drivers side and passenger side uses the same switch, then you could swap them to narrow down the issue, or leave them swapped so the drivers side works and passenger side doesn't.
