Default 2004 Suburban Front Pinion Seal / Bearing?

Have a 2004 Suburban 137k. Noticed leak from front diff. pinion seal this weekend. Front differential is not noisy. When I try to wiggle pinion bearing, by grabbing and wiggling u-joint yoke, it seems solid.

Temps. in Fraser are below 0 at night and Suburban is parked outside.

I am concerned that repair shop is going to try to tell me that front differential needs to be rebuilt.

What are the odds that it is only the seal?

Are there any other symptoms that I / they should be looking for before rebuild?

Thanks,

Jim

sounds to me like you only need a seal. book it for a front pinion seal leak and make it clear you want to be notified if additional work is required.

As long as its not noisy. the front pinion is not actively driven in 2wd.
