Default 2004 Suburban Z71 - Intermittent Instrument Cluster with Intermittent AC

I have a 2004 Chevy Suburban 1500 Z71. I recently replaced all the stepper motors and lights in the instrument cluster. It worked perfectly for about three weeks. Last week I noticed that my AC would randomly start blowing hot on the passenger side. I could fix this issue by turning the car off and back on again. Yesterday my instrument cluster went biserk. The DIC readout was B8B8 and all the gauges were stuck at the position they were in when it failed. The odometer and PRNDL are out completely.

I found that removing the negative battery cable will fix the problem temporarily but not permanently. I also found that when the instrument cluster works, the AC does not - it blows hot but when the instrument cluster gets stuck and goes dark, the AC works and blows cold.

I am probably going to try and re-solder some connections in the instrument cluster and replace the HVAC actuator but the relationship between the two problems makes me think there might be something more to this issue. I was wondering if it might be some kind of ground wire problem with the PCM since all the fuses seem to check out normal.

I am decently experienced with mechanical issues but not at all with electrical issues and so any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: My vehicle threw two codes today... one engine code U0107 (lost comm with throttle actuator control module) and one transfer case code U1000 (class 2 data link malfunction). I am guessing these are electrical codes related to my current issue with the instrument cluster. The cluster flashed on and worked perfectly for about two minutes yesterday and then went dark again. Anyone have any advice on where I can start with a DIY fix?
