2005 Suburban 5.3 Long crank time before it starts
Hi,
I just bought a 2005 Suburban 5.3, 4WD, 98,xxx miles. Runs and drives great. The only real problems are :
1. there is a long crank time before it actually starts. If I interrupt the cranking and then crank again right away it starts quickly
2. when I turn the engine off and take out the key, the radio continues to play. The length of time it continues to play varies from time to time.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For #1, try turning the key to aux for 8-10 seconds before turning all the way to crank the engine. This allows time for the fuel pump to get gas to the engine. I have a 2003 and this works every time.
Not sure about #2...

Welcome from Florida. Your problem is the check valve in the fuel pump assembly. it lets the gas drain back into the pump assembly. You can continue to do what Jason suggests, you can replace the fuel pump or you can add an external check valve in the fuel line.
The radio does continue to play when you turn it off for a few minutes. If it continues to play after you open the door with the engine off, you have a problem. If it shuts off with the door open then all is well.
