Default 2005 Yukon trim panels

Does this triangular panel covering the mirror mount simply pull off/pry off, or how does it come off? Thanks in advance.

This is why I need to remove the mirror

And somehow this long trim on the passenger side (the speaker is in this panel) broke its inside top plastic mount, so I'm trying to get that to stay on too....no, did not try to remove it to access the speaker, Mrs. Cusser has no idea how this happened....

I fixed this by drilling one small hole and using a small, long black sheet metal screw to hold this panel in place, hardly noticeable.

I still need to know about the triangular panel hiding the mirror screws, thanks in advance !

OK, got this off. Pries off at the top, then lifts UPWARD as there's a plastic tab holding it in at the bottom. So if you pry at the bottom of the cover, you'll break that.

I decided to replace the driver side mirror. I was reluctant because the passenger side mirror had white panel to match the Yukon, and all replacement units were all-black.

This morning I ordered two from O'Reilly to be delivered to the local store, both were listed as fitting 2005 Yukon XL Denali. After softball, I went to the store to compare them. I found they had entirely different harnesses (both were powered, one had a "puddle light). So I took neither, went home and waited for Mrs. Cusser to get home. Amazingly, pulling off that triangular panel does NOT enable one to R&R the side mirror, the harness extends about 15 inches into the door panel. So the door panel had to come off toohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AidTQiP49Ek

Anyway, the K Source 62062G side mirror had same length harnesses (2) and same connectors (I found this part number on the K Source site, then searched the part number at O'Reilly, as it didn't come up in the "side mirror" search). This cost $78 and did not have the built-in turn signal lights or automatic dimming. Installation was straightforward, toughest part was getting the door panel back on; thanks, GM !!! What idiot designed this???

I'm pretty convinced that GM designed it this way so that most folks will say "F this" and take to a dealer. Neighbor lady had to replace a Toyota Avalon side mirror, and even without correct tools, all she needed to do was remove her triangular panel unplug the harness AT THE MIRROR and R&R three nuts - 10 minutes !!!

Anyway, after that: I painted the white panel on the passenger side mirror black to match; video showed that removing the white panel and inserting it into the new mirror was not a slam dunk.
