Default 2007 burb read end

On my way to Phoenix for Christmas, heard a whining in the back end of the Burb. Stopped in Texas to have it looked at and they said they would have to totally rebuild the rear. They think it had a bad bearing. They got me on the road the next afternoon, but before I got to Arizona, I heard the noise again. Anyone else been having problems with the rear end going out on the new Suburbans?

I would demand next dealer replace the entire axle, not just fix it.

The 8.5" axle has been around since 1970, and the design since 1964. It is a solid design, but seems they might have got sloppy on it. Any idea what acually failed in it?
