2007 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 slapping metal sound.
Even my mechanic is stumped
just had my truck at my mechanic’s. They replaced the tie rod among other things. The slapping metal sound is now constant. Before, it was only when I cut the wheel all the way, and occasionally when accelerating at 15/20mph. It sounds like a loose brake pad. Like a caliper bolt is missing, it’s that sound. When I had my truck lifted, I could not mimic the sound spinning the tire. It does not do it in reverse. I didn’t check to see if it does it in neutral. The sound is again while accelerating, turning mainly right, and when braking. It gets louder and in rhythm of acceleration, as I slow down, the sound is still loud, but slows. As if after each complete spin it will make the sound.
The only part relevant to drivetrain that has not been replaced on my truck is the caliper. Tie rod, upper/lower control arms, axle and seals/boots, bearings and hub assembly. Yes I know there’s always the chance of a faulty part. But this slapping sound has been a nuisance prior to replacements/work and after. Now after the tie rod and a few other things, it’s worse. Way way worse. I cannot watch another YouTube ad of Biden, I just can’t.
Attached is the sound. Thank you for any and all advice.
***sorry for multiple files. It kept saying error***
