Won't hooking up the Vss wire fix the turn-by-turn part?

You MUST hook up the VSS in order for the NAV to work properly. "ADD-ON" units also need this VSS wire to operate properly. The only ones that don't are the cheap little portable things. But they aren't as acurate when you enter a tunnel or lose the GPS signal.

This may or may not fix the voice guidance, but it has to be done....so just put it in and gofrom there

I purchased the VSS wire harness and it came with two plugs, one plug has the rca, red, black and green wire. the second plug just has a red and black wire. Am I suppose to install this second plug with the red and black wire as well? What is this one for and where do the wires go connected to?

I installed the factory nav in my tahoe back in march of 07. over time, I have noticed that the suppliers use different color wire for the VSS and VCIM kits for the factory navigation system but they still connect to the same places. I took some pics of my plugs and were they go. The VSS is the most important wire to add. That should get the voice guideance working right. That one is the fourth connector to the right. Mine has a green wire on a brown connector but yours may be a different color wire. If the RCA plug is on the brown connector, then that is for the rear camera input if you decide to add one down the road.Underneath the dash on the drivers side there is a black box with picture of a battery that is about 4 inches by 5 inches. Remove the cover to this box then you have to turn it around to see the VSS wire.

The third connector on the nav radio is for audio/video inputs and outputs if your navigation can play movie dvds. in the picture, the white RCA plug is a video out, but i have added video inputs and outputs to the connector since then.

The VCIM plug is the grey plug with the grey and black wires that is not plugged into anything. this plugs into the onstar module and the wires go in to unused pins on the black plug or the first connector of the navigation radio. it uses the onstar mic for voice commands and i believe its only needed if you want to use the Voice Command feature. I used it only a hand full of times, its faster and easier just to push the buttons on the screen in my opinion.

If you look at the post " how to install OEM nav in 2007 tahoe" and look at the pictures on pages 15 through 17, this should answer all of your questions on where to connect everything. hope this helps.

Does anyone have any pics of the back of the black box by the brake pedal of the Green w/white strip wire? I am having the same problem with not turn by turn guidance, I have the VSS wire and thought that I conected to the correct wire but it still is not working. Are there more than on green w/wht stripe wire on the back? Please help....

look at the back of that junction block, its the only green\white in the bottom big connecter.
Make sure it goes to connector 4(brown) pin 5 of the radio
