i'm trying to locate a vehicle speed sense wire on a 2007 chevy tahoe for an after market navigation. i was told that it was a yellow and black wire located in the black harness of the ecm or a purple and white in the same harness, but neither of them are giving me a speed sense. can somebody please help me out?

The VSS wire is GREEN with a White stripe
The easiest location to access this wire is at the Body Control Module (BCM) above and to the left of the brake pedal on the inside firewall you must unlatch the cover and then unlatch the two clips holding the BCM in place then twist the housing around to access the VSS at the bottom of the box.

Yeah there are VSS wire(s) at the ECM as well (GRN/WHT) but why would you want to go clear under the hood to get at a wire to install a navigation system?

is this a high speed vss or a can bus vss like on the new fords because none of these wires are providing a vss signal?

the green/white wire in the bcm did not work for a vss. so i actually went right to the wheel to get the vss. the vss wire is
light blue/black in a 2 pin harness coming from the brake.

You know I din't think about that but the vss at the bcn and ecu are both on the GM bus, I should have known that you needed that raw signal.

if look under the hood to the left of the fuse box on the driver side. look at the left corner of the fuse box and then look down u will see a loomed set of wires going towards the wheel they are twisted together and head to plug above the axle. or if you go underneath ur truck u can see it a set of wires coming of the brakes headin into the engine compartment. hope this helps

Can you explain where exactly you mean by the brake? I am also looking for a VSS wire.
TIA
